Here is a Quick Overview
How Luxortrends started?
Luxortrends was started with the idea of exploring the finest emerging designers from around the country and giving them a platform to showcase their talent. Customers are seen crushing over celebrity fashion styles and the startup is here to help them indulge in a satisfying shopping spree. The inventory at Luxortrends includes everything from juttis and clutches to jewelry and dupattas.
Area of operation
The startup ships PAN India and has recently also gotten into the USA. They plan to approach and build a base for more Non-resident Indians, or NRIs.
Revenue Model
The revenue model for this Surat-based startup is sales and trading.
Luxortrends Team
The team consists of 3 people and some operations like portfolio development marketing and advertising are done via outsourcing.
Market Penetration
The high-ticket items were not performing well initially for the startup, so they included low-budget items as well for market penetration. There are many clothing products, designed in-house, that are not available in the market, making the startup stand out, says the founder.
Target Market
The target market is couples, including both males and females. The target audience currently consists of people above the age of 30 years.
Luxortrends Competition
While there are people trying to copy the designs of the startup, as per the founder, there is still a long time that they would take to manufacture them. The founder also feels that healthy competition should be there as it promotes growth and improvement.
Future Expansion Plans
The idea is to expand the base outside India and include Western wear along with the current range of ethnic wear so that the target market size increases and the youth age bracket below 30 years of age also becomes interested in this apparel startup.
Sales Turnover
The sales turnover per annum is INR 25-30 lakhs, with a profit margin of 20-30% to cover all the expenses from marketing to inventory management. The first two years of operation were cash-burning for the startup.
SWOT Analysis
The strength of the startup is its team and its product, in terms of uniqueness in its design.
The weakness is that the team has not received any substantial investment so far that can provide them with a breakthrough. Along with that, another weakness of this female-founded startup is that it does not have an app yet, like Myntra or Amazon, and is only running through its website.
The opportunity is huge as the Indian market in terms of fashion is enormous.
The threat is competition and copying of the in-house designs that the team at Luxortrends keeps coming up with.
Luxortrends Funding
The founder started the startup via bootstrapping through an initial capital of INR 10 lakhs. There is no venture care fund, angel investor, or external funding so far.
Luxortrends Founders
Anita Gajjar is the CEO and Founder at Luxortrends who has completed her bachelor’s in technology under Electrical and Electronics Engineering from South Gujarat University.
Awards and Recognition
The startup had participated and attended lectures in the TiE, or The Indus Entrepreneurs, Surat.
The startup is registered with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, or MSME, Start-up India and ICE, or Import-Export Code.
