How did Safexpay start?

Safexpay started our journey by creating payment products that allow businesses to accept payments digitally. Over time, they realized that with best of the intentions, they would never be able to help all the businesses, owing to the size of the market.

In 2018, this realization led to them creating a white-labeled payment aggregation platform that could be used by other companies wanting to foray into digital payments across the world.

They could now benefit from Safexpay’s off-the-shelf platform and the knowledge base of their vastly experienced team. They are now the Leader in this space and multiple companies across the world are happy to use this platform.

In 2019, the company started focusing on using case-based product structuring catering to housing societies, payment collection links through Email, SMS & QR, form builder for quick enrolments with merchants, subscription payments, etc.

Growth Rate

The growth rate post-pandemic has been 5x, as compared to their numbers in 2019. Pre-COVID, their valuation was at around $100million.

The company runs on a B2B model.

Market Penetration

They may have entered a cluttered market but their Chief Strategy Officer believes that they have studied the existing players and have been actively working towards being different. The timing is also perfect given the Indian Prime Minister’s push towards Digital India.

Ravi Shankar Gupta is the Founder & CEO and has over 12 years of experience in payment gateway, digital wallet, and alliances in e-commerce. He is the Ex-VP Product & Alliances, EBS-Transactions increased from 800mn a month to INR 3bn a month and grew banking alliances from 18 to 40+ within 20 months. He has also served as the Ex-Product head, Techprocess- Integrated 40+ financial institutions, onboarded 5000 + merchants with GTV of INR 25bn MBA from ICFAI, Mumbai, B.E from K.N.M.I.E.T.

Swapnil Jambhale is the Co-Founder & COO. Over 15 years of deep understanding of banking technology with a unique blend of business & technology. He is the Ex-GM Digital Banking and has been part of the launch of some of the key strategic payment initiatives of NPCI such as UPI, BBPS, RuPay JCB Global card, RuPay Contactless card, etc. He has also worked as the Ex-Business Manager, at Infrasoft Technologies – Projects managing 100+ financial institutions. Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Business from Emeritus in Collaboration with Columbia Business School & MIT Management Executive Education, B.E.Information Technology.
